Antenna cable smaller

From the first units that have the external antenna (rover side).

To what length can I cut the wire?? Even flying on a S1000 class multicopter that enormous wire is just too much.

Or any other “smart” solutions ?

You can cut the wire to the length you want, just make sure to solder the connector correctly (shield + signal). If it is a general problem, we can consider selling antennas with a shorter cable.

Thanks Kevin. No problem soldering the connector, just wanted to be sure that no impedance problems would be relevant.

You will not change the impedance much by shortening the cable, its main impedance is driven by its capacitance and inductance. The resistive part is negligible there.

Hello. Does you answer also apply to this antena?
U-blox ANN-MB multi-band GNSS antenna (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou) (store-drotek.com)
Can i shorten it to 20-30cm?
Thank you

Hi there,

Yes, you may cut the wire to the length you want for the U-blox ANN-MB multi-band GNSS antenna as well. However, you must ensure to solder the connector correctly (shield + signal).

Thank you.
