Mixing Generations of RTK -> SmartNav and XXL RTK GPS

I know someone with a pair of the older SmartNav GPS’s for sale. I’m using the XXL RTK GPS as a base, with Pixhawk/Ardupilot.

Will the SmartNav’s work as rovers or do I need to stick with the M8P chipset?

Not the choice. You have to use a M8P chipset on the rover side.
