Tiny RTK GPS (NEO-M8P Rover): Use same UART for RTCM and NMEA?

With the Tiny RTK GPS (NEO-M8P Rover):

Is it possible to use the same “Rover UART” plug for RTCM 3.2 feeding and NMEA reading simultaneously?
(Using a BT HC06 or similar)

Thank you
Marcel

Hello,

There are two lines in UART communications : one TX (sending) and one RX (receiving), so yes you can use the same UART to feed RTCM and receive NMEA.

How are TELEMETRY RX/TX and ROVER RX/TX correlated? Are they the same?

Do both RX/TX end up in PIN 21/20:

If both are same, why does u-center offer to UARTS:

What is UART2 for?
Is UART1==TELEMETRY RX/TX
Is UART2==ROVER RX/TX ??

And when configuring PRT, all details should be done (RTCM in, and NMEA/PVT out):

what is the additional MSG for?

thank you
Marcel

Hello,

To answer your questions :

  • on TinyRTK, both connectors are to the same UART, this is UART1.
  • there is no UART2 on TinyRTK, U-Center supports this option for other chips
  • RXM-RTCM is a message that will tell you what incoming RTCM messages your rover is receiving, it helps you diagnose if your datalink is correct
